Union Jiu Jitsu provides Combat Martial Arts training in Chatham Ontario.
All of our classes teach self defense, Non-violent conflict resolution, self confidence and respect.
Class Description
Private Sessions
* You must sign up in advance to attend
The purpose of this class is to:
1. prepare students for the structure and principals of the beginner and intermediate combat martial arts classes. We will work on warm-up techniques, basic positioning, escapes and terminology. After this class you will have a basic understanding of the sport and how to begin your journey.
2. Have a one-on-one private session with one of our coaches to further hone your skills, develop a game plan for competition or just add new strategies into your Jiu Jitsu game. for a private session with any one of our instructors contact team@unionjj.ca.
Adult Gi - (All Levels)
Adult Gi is the traditional Jiu-Jitsu class. Starting with technique focused warp-ups Adult Gi moves into fundamental principals and techniques required for your Combat Martial Arts journey. The "Gi" Simply refers to our uniform or kimono. Adult Gi sessions are designed for students of all fitness levels and skill to learn the core ideas and principles combat martial arts.
Adult Gi is the traditional Jiu-Jitsu class. Starting with technique focused warp-ups Adult Gi moves into fundamental principals and techniques required for your Combat martial arts journey.
This class includes sparring sessions and techniques for students looking to compete.
Adult Gi - Beginner
Adult Gi Beginner is a version of regular class targeted specifically for students starting out. This class focuses on the fundamentals of positions, framing and escapes. Jump in if you're just starting out or if you feel like a refresher on Jiu Jitsu 101.
Adult Gi - Advanced
Adult Gi Advanced provides students who have been training for a longer period of time access to techniques with longer sequences and steps. Learning new guards and expanding on positions from the regular adult class.
Open Mat
Open Mat is a time where members can use the mat space to train any technique or skill they feel needs work. No formal coaching is provided, participants frequently use the time to practice and develop methods that they have not yet mastered You can practice technique, drill, spar or grapple in real time.
If you're a complete beginner, this is probably not the greatest place to start. Start with the fundamentals of Adult Gi or Intro to Jiu Jitsu, it will be difficult to train combat martial arts without knowing what to work on because there is no official guidance.
No Gi ( All Levels)
The same positions and principles from the Adult Gi Jiu Jitsu program are covered in this class. The difference is that you are wearing shorts and T-shirt or a rash guard (fitted shirt). These classes focus on wrestling, takedowns and are generally faster paced than Adult Gi. When attending wear shorts a T-shirt and contact us about rash guards if you have questions.
